TOTTENHAM’S derby hero Younes Kaboul has slammed Arsenal fans for being ‘cheap’ and disrespectful in their treatment of William Gallas.

And Kaboul, who scored the 85th-minute winner at the Emirates in Spurs’ historic 3-2 win, admits he was thrilled to see his defensive partner get the last laugh over the Gunners’ boo boys.

“William is an experienced player, he’s very clever, he’s very intelligent,” said Kaboul.

“Some of the fans boo him and stuff like that but that’s not football, that’s normal. If people boo him they are cheap, they don’t remember what William has done for Arsenal in the past. They should have respect for that, but obviously not, so William won – that’s the answer.”

Kaboul, who has started the last eight Spurs matches in all competitions, netted his first goal since re-signing for Tottenham in January.

The Frenchman scored three times in his previous spell at White Hart Lane in 2007/08, but the 24-year-old concedes that his derby winner on Saturday was a highlight in his career.

“I scored an important goal when we drew 4-4 with Aston Villa a few years ago, but this one is very special because it’s against Arsenal,” said Kaboul.

“I’m very happy that we won because everyone deserved it. It was hard to come back to 2-2 first, and then 3-2 so everyone deserves it, and we hope that we can carry on like this.

“It’s a special game, for the whole country. It’s a derby so we had to win it. In a derby we only remember the winners so that’s what we did, and everyone is happy.

“We conceded two early goals and we came back for the second half with a different mentality – stronger. We played with two strikers so we kept the ball and of course we scored three goals, and that made a big difference.

“Finishing in the top four is simply the most important thing. If we want to play in the Champions League again next season, like this year, we have to finish in the top four again, so we have to do better than last season and we can do it.”

Tottenham’s victory at the Emirates ended a 68-game run of failing to win a league game away against Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Spurs’ momentous win also gave them their first derby win at Arsenal for 17 years, but Kaboul insists he was always unaffected by these long-running statistics.

“That’s more for the fans and the legends, we don’t realise,” he said.
