LEG spinner Kevin Hyatt inspired WGC 5ths to a three-wicket victory over Shenley Village 4ths in a tie played at Welwyn Playing Fields.

The skipper finished with figures of 4-14 to give the home side a comfortable victory in the Saracens Herts Cricket League Division 13.

At first it appeared that their opposition would put up a tough fight.

The Shenley side looked as though they would make 200, after the 50-run mark came around quickly for the first wicket.

It was not to be for them as a batting collapse saw Hyatt take centre stage with four wickets in just six overs.

The Village side ended their innings all out for 132.

WGC had the worst possible start in reply.

The Shenley opener claimed an all bowled hat-trick with his first three balls.

Indeed, 0-3 was not an ideal start but captain Hyatt and Paul Mott consolidated and then Bradley Wiles with 40 not out and Hugh Thomas with 20, brought the WGC team to victory in the 29th over.
