Shire Park's Hastings battles to Champion of Champions success

Laura Hastings was the toast of Shire Park (Tewin) Bowls Club after claiming the Champion of Champions Trophy in the St Albans & District Ladies finals.

She beat Di Jewell of Potters Bar in a nail-biting final, winning 21-20.

Gus Edwards had a similarly close final but was also victorious, beating Alan Crowshaw of Parkside 21-20 after 30 ends in the Jock Hunter final.

Hastings was back on top of the podium in the Shire Park finals, with a 21-6 win over Liz Edwards in the Ladies Championship.

Tom Brown beat Edwards 21-14 in the Mens Championship and also won in the Three Woods.

In the Ladies Handicap, Joan Pinnell triumphed 21-18 against Liz Edwards, but Gus Edwards came out on top against Mike Howe by 21-17.

Imelda Handley won 15-14 against Mike Howe in the Two Woods final and the pairing of Terry Crane and John Knight beat Andy Wells and Tony Mears 26-15.
