Welwyn trio in Super match

THREE Welwyn Warriors Under-18 girls took part in the first ever Junior Super League match. Alex Robertson, Megan Williams and Sophie Tyler were all called up for the encounter. A game between a red and a blue team was held at Heythrop Park, Oxfordshire.

THREE Welwyn Warriors Under-18 girls took part in the first ever Junior Super League match.

Alex Robertson, Megan Williams and Sophie Tyler were all called up for the encounter.

A game between a red and a blue team was held at Heythrop Park, Oxfordshire.

Each side was made up of the top girls within the age group and players from England U20s, the Talent Development Group and regional players.

Training was held on the Saturday afternoon and following morning, with the match taking place on the Sunday afternoon.

Alex and Megan were in the blue team with Sophie playing for the reds.

The girls did extremely well and played the whole match in what was a game of the highest standards.

In the end, the blue team finished as winners after scoring five tries to the reds' two.

The second and final U18 Super League match will be held this weekend.

Warriors' girls are likely to be involved again.
