WELWYN RFC Colts recently toured Portugal.

A squad of 18 boys together with 14 parents went on the highly successful break.

Based in Estoril for four days, the touring party enjoyed good weather and excellent hospitality from their Portuguese hosts.

Two games were played with the boys turning in an outstanding performance against the Portugal national U18 team at the Lisbon National Stadium.

Welwyn eventually ran out deserving winners, scoring the decisive try in the closing minutes to stun the home team. Try scorers were winger Dominic Wright with two and skipper Josh Libberton.

After the euphoria of their victory, Welwyn's team spirit saw them through against the Direito Club in Lisbon.

A 15-7 victory was down to two further Dominic Wright tries and one from back row forward Nick Andrew.

The Welwyn management would like to thank Credit Suisse and AC Solutions Group Ltd for their tour sponsorship and the parents for all their support in fundraising for the trip.
