WELWYN started their London 3 North West league campaign with an entertaining 12-12 draw at home to London New Zealand on Saturday.

The match was preceded by a minute’s silence in honour of Nick Waldock, the club’s president, who died on August 30.

The Red Lion man-of-the-match award went to Dave Wells.

Wayne Child and Dave Wells scored the tries for the Hobbs Way side.

Next up for Welwyn is a derby clash away at St Albans on Saturday.
