A TITLE-winning boys' rugby team is trying to recruit new players after securing promotion last season.

Datchworth's Under-16s are looking to attract newcomers to add to an already strong pack at the village club.

Last season the U15s won their Saracens Middlesex League Division Four title and had a brilliant day being paraded around the pitch at Vicarage Road where they were presented with their trophy just prior to the Saracens versus Wasps Premiership match.

Manager Rod Harrison, who has coached some of the lads since they were minis, said: "The team are a truly great bunch of young lads and has a lot going for it, not only on the rugby front as we regularly arrange camping, canoeing, fishing, clay pigeon shooting and other sporting weekends for the boys, as a kind of team building exercise."

He added: "Having now been promoted, we have started our 2008-2009 pre-season training and are hoping to recruit some additional players to join the team and help build on last season's successes, not only on the pitch but also socially."

Anyone interested in playing for the club, regardless of their ability, is welcome to pop along and to give it a go.

Prospective players should contact team manager Rod Harrison on 01438 214748 for further information.
