Lotte Clapp hailed the home Twickenham crowd as amazing as her England team continued their unbeaten Women’s Six Nations campaign with a 13-9 win over Ireland.
In a clash which followed England men’s 21-10 victory over the Irish in south west London tonight (Saturday), Welwyn Garden City’s Clapp and her side secured a third win from three games; following successes over Scotland and Italy.
After leaving the field this evening after collecting her fifth senior cap, the 20-year-old told the Welwyn Hatfield Times, “It was amazing, a great atmosphere, the whole team came together and we did what we set out to do.”
England had led 8-0 with an Amber Reed penalty and Emma Croker’s try, however Ireland struck back before the break with two penalties from captain Niamh Briggs.
The second half saw Briggs knock over a third penalty to hand her side a 9-8 lead before the deciding score, a try from Abbie Scott in the 63rd minute, settled the clash.
