RUGBY star Alex Goode was named man of the match for England U20s against Fiji.

A match-winning performance from the University of Hertfordshire student helped England to a storming start at the IRB Junior World Championship in Wales.

The 20-year-old Saracens player collected his award after scoring a try, a penalty and kicking four conversions in the 41-17 Pool C win over Fiji at Rodney Parade in Newport.

After his 16-point haul, the fly-half was rested for England's second group game.

In Goode's absence, his side trounced Canada 60-18 on Tuesday.

England face Australia in a pool decider on Saturday afternoon with the winners progressing to the semi-finals of the competition.
