WELWYN Saints Under-18s finally claimed some silverware as they became Hertfordshire 7s champions yesterday (Sunday).

Saints made light work of their pool despatching Bucks Jesters and Plymouth Albion without conceding a point and then beating Kettering, three tries to one.

In the semi-final they defeated derby rivals Letchworth by four tries to one, despite scrum-half Emma Wilson being taken to hospital with a badly cut eye.

The final saw Saints take on and beat National Cup winners Reading by 19-7.

Welwyn Saints end their season at the weekend by hoping to build on this success in the National 7s.
