Datchworth RFC’s mini and youth section held their annual awards day on Sunday with a busy clubhouse, bouncy castle and barbecue.

The boys and girls received individual player awards and medals from U6 to U17, presented by first team captain Nick Gudgin, before showcasing their new kit and giving thanks to the coaches and volunteers.

Particular thanks was shown to mini’s chair Andrew Howard, and wife Nicola, who put in an incredible amount of work to coordinate the U6 to U12 age groups, and Jackie Lewis & Rob McGuinness who co-chair the club from U13 to colts.

Phil Solomon was named coach of the year in recognition of his work in establishing the new girls’ section.

Jake Lewis received the Chris Mills’ Trophy for youth player of the year.

It was presented from the first team’s Richard Mills, the youngest son of Chris.
