HATFIELD Comets Under-13s remain top of the Chiltern Junior Rugby League with two games to go after a fine 36-10 win over rivals Highfield Hawks.

The only two clubs that can now catch them at the summit are Grovehill Tigers and sister club New Greens Gladiators.

Tigers went down 24-0 to the Northampton Knights and the Gladiators, who are currently in second place, were beaten by the Adeyfield Dragons.

This now means that the Hatfield team have to win just one of their remaining two games to take the championship.

Comets assistant coach Andy Weldon said: "Saturday's game was very impressive.

"The Comets played some brilliant rugby, putting moves and passes together that left their opponents trailing in their wake.

"Three length of the field tries with multi-player moves put the icing on the cake.

"They are a great bunch of lads and love their Rugby League and it shows in their performance."

The Hatfield side sit on top of the division with 17 points from 10 games.

They have won eight, drawn one and lost just one all season.
