ROGER BALL netted a double hat-trick as Welwyn Warriors edged closer to the East Division One title with an emphatic victory at Motspur Park.

Ball's six goals helped Warriors win Saturday's lacrosse match by an incredible 20-goal margin.

London University had led the division for the first part of the season, but fielding a weakened team they proved to be no match for Welwyn.

Goals were scored at regular intervals throughout the game, with Welwyn having established a comfortable 10-0 lead by the interval.

Although never hitting their best form in front of goal, the long periods of possession gave the opportunity for some players to get on the scoresheet for the first time this season, including Gareth Bates and Greg Parnell.

The second half of the game saw Welwyn continue their scoring exploits, with London only mounting rare attacks.

The game finished 20-0 to Welwyn with the Warriors defence claiming their third shut out of the season.

Steve Groves netted five times with Henry Farrell grabbing three.

Bates and Aaron Demant scored two each with Parnell and Lester Salmins chipping in with one apiece.
