POTTERS BAR skiing sensation Robert Poth struck gold in both Under-11 age category giant slalom races at the English Alpine Championships held in Bormio, Italy.

The 10-year-old St Giles' School pupil, who is a member of Team Slalom Plus and coached by Chantelle Goddard-Jones, won his first giant slalom race by more than three seconds.

Events at the championships, including Robert's, were held on the Stelvio piste, which is almost 3,230 metres long and one of the most technically challenging downhill courses in the world.

Ski racers from all over Great Britain and the world attended the English Championships, including the women's Swedish team who took part in preparation for the World Championships.

Robert is currently now training for the British Alpine Championships in April, which will be held in Meribel, France.

The youngster is seeking sponsorship to help support his career.
