CYCLISTS from Welwyn Wheelers were in road race action earlier this month.

In blustery conditions, Howard Ashmore rode an open solo 25 mile time trial near Biggleswade and recorded a creditable time of 1 hour 12 minutes 27 seconds.

Adrian Trott completed the Bourne Wheelers' road race near Peterborough.

He was going well until the last climb when the cumulative effect of two day's racing took their toll on him.

While all this was going on in England, ex-Wheeler Andy Fenn won the very prestigious junior edition of the Paris-Roubaix race.

It was run over the brutal cobbled pave roads of northern France and Belgium.
