KNEBWORTH Park 5ths were convincing winners over high-flying Reed 3rds on Saturday.

Reed asked Knebworth to bat on a very difficult wicket and Herts Under-15 player Ash Patel and Danny Digweed gave the team a good start.

After a rain break, the tricky wicket became almost unplayable.

Brave knocks from Digweed, Patel, skipper John Inman and Matt Woods were worth 50 plus on any other wicket as the Park reached 176-8 from 47 overs.

Reed were not prepared to grit it out on the wicket and were all out for 99.

Excellent bowling from Dave Murphy, who took five wickets, and the evergreen Bill Martin, was well supported by the best fielding performance of the season.

Matt Woods took four superb outfield catches and Steve Large three behind the sticks.
