Potters Bar swimmers second in Tape Trophy

POTTERS Bar Blue swimming team came a close second in a new trophy event at the Furzefield Centre.
The Tape Trophy was a team event for nine to 13-year-olds.
Teams taking part were Potters Bar Blue, Potters Bar Jade, Stevenage, Cheshunt, Bushey and Broxbourne.
The trophy was finally won by Stevenage, with Potters Bar Blues finishing in the runners-up spot.
It was a very successful night for Potters Bar swimmers with 54 children swimming for the club, many in their first competitive gala.
Eighty personal bests were recorded and 17 event wins.
Individual events were won by Jack Higgins, Hannah Knibb and Anna Church.
Joshua Higgins, Michael Batey, and Georgina Lawson were also successful winning their section.
Other winners were Kaywon Alekasir, Aryan Alekasir, Andrea Houben, Jessica Hurley and Michelle Mitchell.
The Under-12 girls took part in the double, winning the freestyle and medley relays.
The relay team members were Claire Dean, Anna Church, Georgina Lawson, Katie Gormley and Samantha Over.
Potters Bar Swimming Club are now sponsored by Buffera Ltd, a locally based company who sell multi-functional headwear.
On Friday, February 20 at the Furzefield Centre, Potters Bar Swimming Club will welcome double Olympian and European and British record-holder Melanie Marshall.
She will be leading pool training for the club swimmers and giving a talk to the aspiring young athletes.
