A POTTERS Bar ‘wandering’ squash side celebrated success at the 2012 Jersey Squash Festival held in St Helier.

Forty teams, more than 200 Squash players from all around Europe, descended on the island for this renowned Squash Tournament.

The team made up of PB players Pete Newman, Gordon Kerr and Jon Penn and guest players, Neal Pickersgill and Peter Gunter, won their division easily to take the wonderful Glass Trophy.

On the first day, they beat Jersey Squash Academy 5-0 at the Victoria College Courts.

The next morning then saw another 5-0 win against Chelmsford Squash Club at Jersey Squash Club and then in the afternoon a 4-1 victory over Ferndown in the Fort Sports Complex.

This set up a final against Surbiton Rackets Club on the Sunday morning who had also been very convincing on their journey to the final.

Gordon Kerr got PB off to a great start with a 3-0 win at No.3. Neal Pickersgill then won a hard fought match at No.4 by three games to two to improve PB’s advantage. Jon Penn then secured the match by winning 3-0 at String five.

Finally, Pete Newman (No.2) and Peter Gunter (No.1) also beat their opposite opponents 3-0 to complete a very satisfying 5-0 victory in the team’s first visit to Jersey.

The Team would like to thank a new Potters Bar business, Clean Image Dry Cleaners for their providing Tour shirts for the tournament.

To celebrate the win, Clean Image 2 Mutton Lane, are running a special offer of five or more shirts for 2.50 each & five or more trousers for 3 each to those quoting TEAM PB Squash.
