POTTERS Bar's lead at the top of the table has been cut to just eight points.

Len Cooper's men saw their healthy advantage at the summit of Home Counties Premier League almost wiped out by the weather at the weekend.

The Walk club's Division Two (East) match against bottom club Hemel Hempstead Town was washed out by the rain.

Hemel were cruising at 100 without loss with opener Hemish Ilangaratne unbeaten on 55 and James Potton 42 not out.

However, the game was abandoned after 21 overs and that resulted in the both sides picking up just six Division Two (East) bonus points.

Things were made worse for Potters Bar by closest challengers Bishop's Stortford completing their game on Saturday - and beating local rivals Sawbridgeworth by 39 runs.

The 25 points gained lifted Stortford to within sight of previously runaway league leaders Potters Bar.

It's derby day for Potters Bar this Saturday with improving North Mymms visiting The Walk.
