Archant

Long standing Potters Bar Bowls Club member Jan Southwell has been elected as this year’s St Albans & District Bowling Association president.

And as per tradition the president’s club hosted a game against the district, although the weather did its best to spoil the occasion.

But despite the cold and damp conditions, Bar coped better to win 164-95.

In other matches Bar had mixed fortunes.

Both the ladies and men had successful teams in the Top Club competition, with the ladies beating Ware at home and the men winning away at Cuffley.

In the National over 55 Pairs competition, Richard Pearce and David Salmon were successful against a De Havilland team but there was no luck in the Maurice Watson Trophy at Shire Park or the County Triples at home to Harpenden.

But in the Ladies County Triples Sandra Smale, Anita Bowman and Pam Rogers won 13-12 at Townsend.
