Potters Bar were left to rue missed chances as they slipped to a narrow 3-2 defeat at Beford 2nds.

It was a much stronger squad than the opening weekend, with a debut for Ben Spencer and returns for Ray Li and Tom Clarke.

But it was the hosts who started the better and they took the lead on 14 minutes from a tight angle.

Things got worse six minutes later with a second but Bar finally got their act together and should have been level by half-time.

As it was they had to wait until after the break for their first when the high press allowed Clarke to score at the second attempt.

Against the run of play a ht-trick goal put Bedford 3-1 up but Bar were undeterred and a superb move saw Mark Turpin deflect a Spencer cross in.

A frantic finale followed with two great chances for a Bar equaliser but keeping with the rest of the game, the visitors were unable to convert the chances.
