Potters Bar moved back into the play-off places at the top of the Saracens Herts Cricket League Premier League with a six-wicket home win over Bishop’s Stortford.
Having lost the toss and been put into the field, Bar got off to a slow start.
Eddie Ballard and Joe Burslem had put on 56 for the first wicket before the former was caught by Zawar Hussain off the bowling of Teddy Duke.
His partner went for 36, five runs more, with Stortford on 86-2, but still the visitors pushed on.
It was only when the fourth wicket fell, with the score on 135, that the visitors started to crumble.
The Bar bowlers suddenly found their range and by the end of the 50 overs Stortford had made 190-8.
Thilan Walallawita claimed 2-34 with the remaining wickets being shared throughout the attack.
And Potters Bar’s reply was comfortable for the most part as they reached their target in the 37th over.
Steve Gale and skipper James Scott put on 51 for the first wicket before both were out for 23 shortly after the other.
The next big partnership was 61 for the third wicket between Kamram Younas and Harrison Palmer before an unbeaten 70 between Hussain (24*) and Walallawita (47*) saw the hosts over the line.
The result puts Bar fourth in the table with two wins from the three games that have been played to a finish.
They are back at The Walk on Saturday for the big derby clash with North Mymms, the team directly above them in the table.
The second team are also still in the hunt at the top end of the table after picking up a fabulous 37-run victory over Luton Town & Indians.
The hosts were undefeated in Division Three B and remain top but Bar have now moved eight points behind them and five behind Langleybury in second, the team Potters visit on Saturday.
The thirds kept the winning feeling going with a tense one-wicket win at Berkhamsted 2nds.
Having bowled the hosts out for 99, they had to dig deep and hold their nerve at 88-9 to sneak across the line in the 44th over.
And the fourths completed a clean-sweep of victories by clinching a 37-run success over Tewin 2nds, bowling the visitors out for 106 in reply to Bar’s 143.
