Potters Bar Bowls Club switch trophy attention to internal competitions

After grabbing multiple trophies already this year, Potters Bar Bowls Club members were battling for internal honours this week.

In total 23 members in me’s, ladies and mixed teams contested 15 finals while others from the club acted as markers, scorers or just excited supporters.

Di Jewell crowned a very successful year by both retaining the ladies’ championship, narrowly beating Beryl Burbridge, before claiming the Wagtail Trophy.

County player Richard Pearce worked his way through to five finals, winning two of them, the singles championship and the Jones Cup.

Men’s captain Chris Budden and vice captain Barry Woodman teamed up to retain the Lewin Shield.

Budden also claimed the Hicks Cup, Ron Golden the Medlock Cup and Pat Feeney the Jubilee.

Feeney and Golden then joined Les Steed to win the Collins Trophy.
