Potters Bar Bowls Club reported a whopping 50mm of the wet stuff fell on their Walk-based green during the first few weeks of April.

And they will be hoping it will have dried out enough for their annual season opening President’s Day on Saturday.

There will also be a buffet meal after and this year’s president Susie Thurlow will also be encouraging members to purchase raffle tickets which will go towards her charity for the year, Headway for Hertfordshire.

Saturday morning will also see the club’s first open morning where they hope to attract new members.

It starts at 10am with another planned for May 6.

Everyone is welcome to turn up on the day and will be assured of a warm welcome.
