SPORTS fans from Times Territory will have their eyes firmly on the Beijing Water Cube at this summer's Olympic Games.

The area boasts three and possibly two more athletes who are due to compete at the Chinese National Aquatics Centre, nicknamed the Water Cube because of its design.

Former Potters Bar synchronised swimmer Olivia Allison, 1,500m competitor Richard Charlesworth, a Hatfield Swimming Club member, and 4x100m freestyle relay member Adam Brown are all preparing to compete at the newly built venue.

Swimmer Brown is to continue his Beijing preparations with the GB men's Olympic team at a week training camp to Sardinia. He will then return to Hatfield to compete for his club at the National Speedo League Final in Sheffield on Sunday, May 11.

Ex-WGC schoolboy Ben Swain and former Beaumont Academy club member Hayley Sage could also still qualify for the GB diving squad.

Swain is hoping to get to the Olympics in the men's 3m synchro diving event, while Sage is gearing up to qualify for the women's version.

Both have qualified GB a place in the Beijing Games.

Now they have to secure their own places in the British team.
