WGC Hockey Club 2nds surrendered a half-time lead to draw 1-1 with league strugglers Letchworth 4ths.

The NE14HOCKEY East League Division 5SW encounter was always going to be a tough one for WGC.

Visitors Letchworth are battling to save themselves from relegation.

The away team pushed hard in the first half and looked the better side but failed to make numerous short corners count.

As the game came close to the end of the first half, WGC started to assemble some attacking moves.

After one of these attacks Clarke hung back with the goalie, while the Letchworth defence took a quick 16-yard hit.

Fortunately, Minder was there to intercept and hit the ball back to Clarke who turned the keeper and struck the ball with just enough pace to cross the line for a slender 1-0 lead at the break.

Letchworth started the second half strongly but this was neutralised by the WGC defence.

The North Herts side won a penalty corner.

Instead of firing it along the ground, the player flicked the ball high into the back of the net.

A draw was a disappointing result for both sides who were looking to take the win.
