Phoenix athletes compete at English Schools event

SEVEN Herts Phoenix youngsters represented Hertfordshire Schools at the English Schools Cross-Country Championships at Stanford Hall in Loughborough. The athletes had to negotiate their way over tough rolling countryside and through the twisting courses

SEVEN Herts Phoenix youngsters represented Hertfordshire Schools at the English Schools' Cross-Country Championships at Stanford Hall in Loughborough.

The athletes had to negotiate their way over tough rolling countryside and through the twisting courses designed by the race organisers.

All of the club's athletes ran very well against many of the best young endurance athletes in the country.

The individual results were as follows: Junior Boys: 253rd Liam Cloona 17 mins 28 secs; Intermediate Boys: 194th Edward Shepherd 20 mins 19 secs; 271st Tom Barfoot 20 mins 59 secs; Senior Boys: 238th Tom Gough 27 mins 45 secs; Junior Girls: 125th Emily Ruane 12 mins 25 secs; 137th Mary Gough 12 mins 28 secs; Senior Girls: 181st Laura Whitehead 21 mins 29 secs.
