Back to the capital as Garden City Runners set new best times at London Vitality 10K

Just a few weeks after the marathon Garden City Runners were back on the streets of the capital for the London Vitality 10K.

In total 18 from the club took part with a number of personal bests set.

Chris Jones was the first to cross the finish line on the Mall in 35 minutes 50 seconds, a new PB, and he was closely followed by James Huish in another PB.

Thomas Wackett (37:54), Hannah Frank (44:46), Gary Faires (49:37) and Peter Lapthorne (1:01:31) also ran quicker than before.

The first GCR lady to finish was Martha Hall who was fifth in her age group.

Back home Stanborough Park was again the venue for the WGC Race for Life.

A club spokesman said: “Well done to all those involved in the race for life event.

“A special mention to Sue Fletcher who led the volunteers and to those GCRs’ who supported by marshalling along the course and Russell Casey who led the race guiding the front runners.”
