LEG spinner Connor Alderman hauled the Park's 5th XI back into their match against Hertford 4ths on Saturday.

Alderman took 4-61 in 17 overs, but in the end the Knebworth side lost out to stronger opponents.

Matt Woods also bowled well in taking 2-41 in 17 overs as Hertford declared an over early on 175-7.

Skipper and opener Eric Riddle shone for the Balls Park side with 56 runs.

He shared a stand of 54 for the second wicket with Don Carr on Saturday.

Economical bowling from Daniel Osgood and Nick Bancroft meant that Knebworth made a slow start, during which they lost early wickets.

Chris Johnson sought to hold the Park batting together against a useful Hertford bowling attack with 26 runs.

The Park continued to struggle against an accurate attack, Richard Reid bowling four overs for just two runs.

There was briefly hope of a positive result as Tristran Tompkins launched a whirlwind assault on the bowling, hitting a rapid 36.

However, he was the only batsman to really break the shackles, but when the Barbett brothers combined to dismiss him the game was almost over and soon Knebworth were all out for 121.
