Pirton 132-10 Knebworth Park 5ths 136-4

CAREER best figures from Andy Page helped inspire Knebworth Park 5ths to victory on Saturday.

Page recorded magnificent figures of 7-50 from 23 overs as the Park beat Pirton by six wickets in Herts League Division 11.

Bowling hero Page was backed up by John Inman, who took the other three wickets to fall for 56 runs in 19.4 overs to dismiss the visitors for 132.

Pirton initially had raced away to 69 for no loss in the first nine overs before Page and Inman applied the brakes.

They were backed up by good catches from Jordan Lashmar in the field.

The Park were in trouble themselves in reply at 18-3 and then 50-4.

However, they recovered thanks to Inman completing an outstanding all-round captain's display.

The skipper struck an unbeaten 46 in supporting vice-captain Ian Woods' 68 not out.

Woods was in fine fettle, spurred on by his star karaoke turn on the pre-season tour to Spain where he sang The Killers' 'Mr Brightside'.

Inman and Woods added 86 in an unbroken fifth wicket partnership that won the game.
