No fifth national squash title for Alison Waters

Four-time winner Alison Waters' record breaking ninth National Squash Championships final ended in disappointment in Manchester.

Against world number one, and the tournament’s top seed, Laura Massaro, Welwyn Garden City’s Waters fell to a 24-minute defeat going down 11-2, 11-5, 11-4 today (Sunday).

The 31-year-old second seed had previously won the title in 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2014 .

Massaro and Waters had met seven times before in the tournament, starting with the qualifiers in 2002 up to the 2013 final, prior to today Waters had led 4-3.
