Herts Mavericks face a daunting trip to the Netball Superleague's top finishers, Manchester Thunder, in the play-off semi-finals this Saturday.

The line-up for the final four was decided at the weekend following Mavericks’ 54-50 defeat to fellow play-off outfit Yorkshire Jets at Hatfield’s Hertfordshire Sports Village.

The second semi-final sees Surrey Storm host Jets.

While Thunder are favourites to reach the grand final at the Copper Box on April 25, Mavericks director Gloria Keech knows her side are more than capable of causing an upset at the Manchester Arena and securing a final place.

“I have high hopes,” she told the Welwyn Hatfield Times.

“I think all the pressure will be on Thunder and we will perform well.

“I’m not travelling all the way to Manchester to come home with nothing.

“We have suffered at different times with injuries this season, but all who could be there should be there on Saturday.

“Previous matches no longer matter, what does matter is what happens Saturday.”

Two of Mavericks England internationals, Layla Guscoth and Kadeen Corbin, returned from injury last Saturday so should feature in Manchester,

This weekend’s crunch trip has gained added media attention following the release of Thunder’s version of Tony Christie’s Is This The Way To Amarillo? spoof YouTube video.

The clip features Thunder players and management at iconic Manchester venues, such as Old Trafford, and joined by members of the Coronation Street cast and former Manchester United players Paul Scholes, Gary and Phil Neville, supporting their sister Tracey Neville, the Thunder and England head coach.

The match, which starts at 6.10pm, is live on Sky Sports.

The winners will play in the play-off final the following weekend at the Copper Box in a clash preceeded by the losing team in the third/fourth play-off match.
