NORTH Mymms' bowlers had a narrow 39-37 win in their penultimate County League fixture.

The rink of John Penfold, Jim Greenwood, Martin Barson and Peter Stokes succumbed by 10 shots against Parkside.

However, Dave Cooper, Brian O'Neill, Cliff Saunders and Barry Paine returned a 26-14 winning card to snatch victory in the match by two shots.

At home to Potten End, a very close contest finished in a draw 66 shots each with both sides winning on two rinks.

The successful Mymms rinks were those of John Penfold, Arthur Kenyon, Ray Jones and Peter Stokes with a 24-13 win and Jim Greenwood, Alf Valentine, Graham Lamb and Barry Paine, who claimed victory by 21-14.

Mymms narrowly missed out on a place in the final of the District Triples competition.

The ladies needed to take all six league points against Barnet.

However, they could only manage to grasp four of the points so a place in the final was just missed.
