IT was a busy week for North Mymms' men with successive County League games and a Jones Cup semi-final against Welwyn Garden City.
Hosting table-topping Oak Hill, Dave Cooper, Brian O'Neill, Bob Fowler and Peter Stokes fought hard, only to go down by just one shot on the final end 18-17.
But with the other rink defeated 24-11, the visitors took the match 42-28.
There was a complete turnabout in the next match at home to Hatfield rivals De Havilland.
Brian O'Neill, Cliff Saunders, Barry Paine and Geoff Moorhouse outplayed their opponents to win 49-9.
Dave Cooper, Dave Marlborough, Bob Fowler and Peter Stokes also won by an impressive 32-8 margin for a massive 81-17 shots victory and six match points.
Mymms went into their Jones Cup semi-final tie optimistic after sharing rinks with WGC in the league the previous week.
However, Dave Cooper, Brian O'Neill, Cliff Saunders and Barry Paine were beaten 23-12.
John Penfold, Keith Avenall, Jim Greenwood and Martin Barson narrowly lost 18-16 for the Digswell Park club to take the match and a place in the final.
North Mymms' ladies enjoyed a close encounter with Barnet.
Although losing on two rinks, Sylvia Kenyon, Delsa Cooper and Shirley Brooker returned a 23-10 winning card to see them home by just one shot in a 48-47 winning total.
As the current leaders of their District Triples League group, the match against Rowley Lane ladies assumed even greater importance.
In the event, good bowling by the opponents and a below-par performance by Mymms left them defeated on both rinks and by a match score of 46-20.
A disappointing week ended in wet and dismal conditions at home to Hoddesdon, Rosehill in a five rink mixed triples match.
The visitors were victorious by 91 shots to 68.
Best rink for Mymms was Sylvia Kenyon, Bob Fowler and Peter Stokes at 18-15.
