DATCHWORTH'S two East Herts Bowls League teams had mixed results when they took on the Castles and Ware Maltisers.

The Division One Blue team were at home to the Castles and the triple of Mike Mahoney, Richard Andrews and skip Les Parsley won their encounter.

They were 12-0 up after six ends before their opponents picked up any shots.

The hosts then unexpectedly dropped a seven on the last end, but still came out on top by 22-20.

Les Elms, Brian Gilbert and skip Peter Hills were behind all the way in the other triple, losing 13-11.

The village club's Division Three Gold team travelled to Ware to play Maltisers in what was the first league game for both teams.

Datchworth returned home with maximum points.

Phil Fox, Jeff Nash and skip David Wright only lost five ends as they eased to a 24-9 win in their triples match.

Dave Thompson, Tom Power and skip Steve Chamberlain were involved in a much closer triple.

One shot was scored on 10 of the 18 ends played, but they did enough to edge it by 15-14.
