DATCHWORTH Bowls Club had mixed fortunes in the East Herts Bowls League.

The club's Division One Blue team came out on top 49-33 at home to Allenburys.

Mike Mahoney, Brian Gilbert and skip Les Parsley scored heavily, including an eight, a five and two fours, as they easily outscored their opponents 31-13.

The Blue's other triple of Les Elms, Steve Arnold and skip Peter Hills had gone 17-15 ahead but ended up losing 20-18.

In Division Three, the Datchworth Gold team travelled to play Rosehill Kestrals.

A tight affair saw the Kestrals nick the match by one shot, 29-28.

Jim Whittle, Tom Power and skip Steve Chamberlain took the lead from the start and never lost it as they won 17-11.

The result for David Thompson, Phil Fox and skip Jeff Nash was almost a mirror image.

They were behind from the second end and lost 18-11, the extra shot advantage winning the match for the Kestrals.
