Miller sets best of British

HERTS Phoenix stalwart thrower Ian Miller set five new records at the 56lbs (25kg) British Championships in the over 60's age group.

At the event in Stoke-on-Trent the 74-year-old won five golds and set British records in each of the events.

In the hammer he threw 8.81m, shot 5.14m, one handed hammer 9.57m, Irish sling 6.60m and weight for height 3.95m.

Miller also competed in the open throwing triathlon, winning silver.

This event requires competitors to throw the hammer, one handed hammer and the shot.

The veteran Welwyn athlete also took silver in the throwing pentathlon.

In this competition he threw the hammer, one handed, hammer, shot, Irish sling and weight for height.
