HATFIELD speedway star Robert Mear put in another superb show for Rye House Silver Ski Rockets on Bank Holiday Monday.

The teenager helped the Rockets maintain their unbeaten home record with a 52-40 Premier League win over Workington Comets.

Throughout the contest the large Bank Holiday crowd at Rye House were given plenty to keep them entertained.

After heat five, the Rockets had edged ahead thanks to a maximum from Mear and new British U21 champion Tai Woffinden.

Mear's dogged pursuit of Barry Burchatt, who is on loan from Rye, resulted in him catching his man on the line, showing why he is building a big reputation in Hoddesdon.

The former Onslow St Audrey's School pupil again put in an impressive performance in heat eight.

The heat was stopped when Burchatt hit the third bend fence after an excellent tussle with the Rye reserve.

Rye took the points after holding out for a 52-40 win.

Rockets are next in action on Friday at Somerset Rebels in the Premier League.
