Mavericks go top of Netball Superleague with perfect record

Herts Mavericks' climbed to the top of the Vitality Netball Superleague table as their perfect start continued on Monday with a 62-45 away victory over Team Northumbria, a third win from three games.
Mavericks and Team Northumbria have both played three games so far, with the other six in the league to play their third games this weekend.
The hosts started brightly and led for most of the opening quarter, however by the first break the Hatfield-based Mavericks had recovered and edged 15-14 ahead.
The close encounter continued until half-time with the visitors 28-26 in front.
Exciting Mavericks teenager George Fisher was introduced at the interval and that coincided with her side stretching their advantage to 10 points to 45-35 by the conclusion of the third period.
A dominant final quarter by Sam Bird’s side saw them run out as comfortable victors, while Northumbria fell to a third loss of the term.
