SWIMMER Adam Brown has missed out on making the semi-finals of the men's 100m freestyle at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

This morning (Tuesday) the Hatfield Swimming Club ace clocked 49.20secs in the pool at the London Aquatics Centre to finish seventh in heat six.

The top 16 times from the eight heats, all sub 49 seconds, progressed to the next stage.

Brown, Britain’s fastest swimmer, will next line-up in the 50m freestyle heats on Thursday.

It was the 23-year-old’s first appearance at the 2012 Games after he was rested by the GB team for the 4x100m freestyle relay, however that backfired as the team failed to progress from their heat on Sunday.
