TOM Lewis shot a three over-par second round in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth today (Friday) to give him an overall score of four-over-par 148, which was not enough to make the cut.

The Welwyn Garden City golfer fired a one-over-par 73 in Thursday’s first round.

Cold and wet weather today (Friday) made conditions tough for all the players, with the likes of Luke Donald, winner of the event in 2011 and 2012, also missing the two-over-par cut with a six-over-par 150 total.

Lewis’ second round saw him hit par on the first, fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth holes, but bogeys on the second, third, sixth and ninth left him with a mountain to climb on the back nine.

The 22-year-old found a steadier path back to the clubhouse as he parred holes 10, 11, 13, 15, 16 and 17, with a bogey on 12 and birdies on 14 and 18.

Topping the leaderboard (at the time of writing) after two rounds was London-based Italian Francesco Molinari with six-under 138.
