HERTS hero Lewis Hamilton believes Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix is set up to be a challenging race.

Lewis sits in third place in the overall standings, having been unable to follow up his excellent 2008 opening grand prix win in Melbourne in recent races.

He said: "The Circuit de Catalunya is a challenging track for the engineers and drivers.

"It has changed a little bit in character prior to last year's grand prix.

"Turn two is a big corner and it provides a good challenge from both a driving and set-up perspective."

Since his Bahrain disappointment last time out, 23-year-old Hamilton has been working hard with his McLaren team, and hopefully will be able to put into practice all that he has learnt for what is bound to be a tough race.

Norbert Haug, vice president of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport, added: "The track at Barcelona with the long front straight and with long sweeping corners as well as tight bends is one of the most demanding of all circuits."

Qualifying in Barcelona takes place on Saturday.
