League leaders Datchworth got back to winning ways at home to Totteridge Millhillians following two draws in recent weeks.

Winning the toss, Datch skipper Tom Bennett took a gamble and elected to bowl in an attempt to take 30 points.

An early wicket for George Wallace (1-25) gave Datchworth the perfect start, however wickets were hard to come by as Totteridge marched to 90-2 at drinks.

With the foundations set and a score of 200 plus looming, Bennett (4-33) turned to his own spin while the experience of Steve Stroomer (3-25 off 15 overs) helped restrict Totteridge to 153-9 off their 53 overs.

In reply, Datchworth made a steady beginning with Steve Gregory (29) playing a more aggressive role in an opening stand of 38, before knocking a simple caught-and-bowled back to Khan (5-50).

Luke Bennett followed shortly after in unusual circumstances as he attempted to sweep a leg side delivery and ended up playing on off his elbow and onto the stumps.

Tom Bennett (53) and Liam Kenna (12) came together for a partnership of 50 runs, with Kenna playing the supporting role as Bennett took to the Totteridge bowling with ease, playing some exquisite strokes.

Nawae bowled Kenna and soon after Bennett fell lbw with Datch wobbling in search of a final 40 runs.

A middle order collapse further put the home side in jeopardy until Michael Fisher came to the crease and his composed head sealed the victory.
