LITTLE Heath badminton ace Laura Cousins had netted the U19 national women's doubles title.

The junior international from Swanley Bar Lane was crowned champion after storming to success with partner Sarah Walker, from Essex, at the Yonex English National Under-19 tournament.

The duo, teaming up for only the second time this year, beat Alyssa Lim and Kate Robertshaw 22-20, 16-21, 21-17 at the event held in the Milton Keynes National Badminton Centre.

The pair started the year with victory at the Wimbledon racquet club and have finished the domestic season as U19 national champs.

Herts county senior player Laura is currently studying sports performance at Bath University.

She trains at the Bath high performance centre under the watchful eye of Pete Bush and in Milton Keynes.

This is the second time the teenager has claimed a national ladies' double title as she also won the accolade at U15 level.

At the national championships, former Bishop's Hatfield pupil Laura also reached the semi-finals of the U19 mixed doubles partnering Victor Liew.

Herts ace Liew just lost out in the men's doubles final with Arthur Cheung, from Buckinghamshire, the pair losing to Chris Hotchen and Ben Stawski.

Laura took a day off following her victory in Milton Keynes before then joining her England team-mates at the Dutch Junior International in Duinwijck, Holland.
