AN eighth-wicket stand of over 50 between Hugh Thomas and Robert Debaere was not enough to prevent WGC 5ths falling to defeat at Harpenden.

The visitors batted first against their Harpenden counterparts, and struggled to stamp their authority on the Saracens Herts League Division 13 game.

They were all out for a disappointing 115.

It would have been so much worse had Thomas and Debaere not shared a half-century stand, with Thomas finishing on 37 and Debaere on 25.

WGC skipper Kevin Hyatt tried seven bowlers, including himself, when Harpenden 5ths were put into bat.

But the home side got home in 32 overs, losing only four wickets along the way.
