Knebworth golfer Jamie Rutherford has made the jump to professional and finished tied-sixth in Stage One of European Tour Qualifying School.
The 2012 HGU County Player of the Year performed admirably in his first event as a Pro at Frilford Heath, Oxfordshire, in the first stage of European Tour Qualifying School.
Rutherford shot rounds of 71, 70, 66, 74 for a total of 281 (-7), good enough to easily qualify through in a tie for sixth place and pick up a cheque, although it is unlikely the 64 euros he won will go too far though.
Rutherford now takes his place in Stage Two taking place in Spain at four venues between November 2-5.
His last competitive round as an amateur was a 65 (-6) in the afternoon round of the Knebworth Gold & Silver Bowls, at which he won the individual prize for the lowest 36 hole score.
The HGU have thanked Rutherford for his efforts as a County player and wish him all the best in his pro career.
