AN athletic boss has decided to set an example and trudge around the streets of the capital for charity.

Karen Burnett, who is head of counselling at a charity organisation that has offices in WGC, will run the 26-mile, 385-yard course after her husband advised her to "lead from the front".

Karen told the WHT that she had never run more than 400 metres before beginning training for Sunday's race last September.

The counsellor at the Stevenage & North Herts centres hopes to finish in around in four-and-a-half hours and hopes to bag £3,000 in sponsorship for the organisation.

Karen, who comes from Hertford but also works in the WGC office in Ludwick Way, said: "I have never been a huge running fan but have built up slowly.

"When you are working as a councillor you spend a lot of time looking at people's psyche.

"It's quite interesting how you can convince yourself that you can do it and it has been quite an eye opener.

"I'm getting quite excited now but fearing it as well.

"It will be a great day and I can't wait to start, run over Tower Bridge and then run down the finishing straight."
