Jodie Williams books place in IAAF World Championship 200m semi-finals

JODIE Williams has this morning qualified for the women’s 200m semi-finals at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow.

The 19-year-old from Welwyn Garden City clocked 23.00secs in heat six, coming fourth, making this afternoon’s semi-finals as a fastest loser.

A delighted Williams, Tweeted: “So glad to get that out of the way! Thank you everyone for your support, was very nervous but feeling better now I’m through to the semi!”

The Herts Phoenix athlete will run in heat three with the first two from each heat and two fastest losers making the final.

Jamaica’s Olympic 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce runs against Williams in the semi.

This afternoon’s session will be live on BBC2 between 3.45pm and 7pm.

Williams is also in the GB 4x100m relay squad.
