Jodie Williams and Deji Tobais named in GB&NI U23 squad

TWO Welwyn Hatfield sprinters have been picked for the GB&NI squad to compete in the European U23 Championships in Tampere, Finland.

Welwyn Garden City sprint queen Jodie Williams will be joined in the squad for the championships, which run from July 11-14, by University of Hertfordshire speedster Deji Tobais.

Williams, aged 19, will double up in the 100m and 200m as well as leading the GB&NI 4x100m team, she is ranked fifth in Europe for 100m and third for 200m.

Business and Sport Studies student Tobais has been selected for the men’s 100m and 4x100m relay squad.

The 21-year-old’s 100m personal best is 10.29secs.
