A SUPER-FIT vicar hopes to supply his congregation with regular updates as he runs this year's Flora London Marathon.
The Rev Simon Moore, who preaches at Panshanger Church in Hardings, WGC, intends to inform his Sunday morning congregation via a mobile phone on April 13.
The 46-year-old, who has run the 26-mile, 385-yard course on two previous occasions, has enlisted the help of his two dogs, Stan and Jess, as training partners for the race.
The clergyman hopes to achieve a time of around four hours and said that his special training partners should provide the suitable encouragement to get him fit for the big day.
He said: "It is hard to find people who want to do it with you so the dogs have been a great help but I'm sure the congregation are supportive and will be well behind me."
"I last ran it in 2003 but I'm getting older now and it is only going to get harder and I'm looking forward to it.
"My wife will be taking the service on that Sunday and I may take a mobile with me but I will not be calling them, they can call me as it's hard enough as it is."
Mr Moore hopes to raise around £1,000 which will be split between his church's charity trip to Costa Rica and young person's cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
